The Postal Service Brings Tidings of Great Joy!

A package full of awesome arrived yesterday from the UK: Scenarios for Wargames and the solo wargaming classic, Programmed Wargames Scenarios, both by Charles S. Grant.

Squee!

I ordered these from The Keep on 11/28 and they arrived on 12/5. There are US game stores that don't deliver that fast!

  1. I've had these for years and they are awesome gaming books.

They have many types of scenarios for situations that occurred frequently in history but are seldom seen on the table top.

There are a few "even forces" scenarios but most are "evened" by terrain or objectives with uneven forces.

    You will love these.

  2. I agree with Jeff. I have probably referred to, and actually used more bits from, these 2 books over the decades than any other war games or gaming books (although I used to enjoy browsing through a few other books, such as Featherstone's works, his Solo one in particular, and HG Wells' Little Wars, I never put much from them into practice).
The Programmed one is also good as a sort of "how to play solo" primer, more by example and actual exercises. I've gotten plenty of use out of both books (which I have also had for years).

  3. Thank you gentlemen for confirming that this purchase was indeed worth the money spent. I can't wait to have a chance to really dig into them!
