Not that I did it all the time, but I liked having the option. I also believe the in-the-open die rolls, help build trust between players and the GM when they don't know each other outside of the gaming group.John Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16465161620134394060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1796726216651686005.post-45219593313667128212014-03-04T12:48:38.075-05:002014-03-04T12:48:38.075-05:00Hi Jeff,

It's hard for me to say whether everyone enjoyed themselves or not - I got positive reactions afterwards and nearly everyone said they were looking forward to the next session, so I'll take that as a good sign. - JohnJohn Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16465161620134394060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1796726216651686005.post-14429190934902512022014-03-03T01:03:00.192-05:002014-03-03T01:03:00.192-05:00Oh, and while I'm thinking about it . . . I truly hate those games where the GM makes sure that everyone survives.

The real possibility of characters dying is necessary for the players to role-play their characters with that "thrill of danger" aspect that so enlivens the experience. S

This is one of the reasons why as a GM I roll my "monsters" attach and damage dice in full view of the players . . . they know that I'm not fudging anything and that the danger is real.

-- Jeff
Bluebear Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05171345165563779232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1796726216651686005.post-19222561702311995312014-03-03T00:57:22.725-05:002014-03-03T00:57:22.725-05:00Reads like you had some rather cruel-minded charac...Reads like you had some rather cruel-minded characters there.
