Yes, I was disappointed that his "life" is over but I don't see how it could have ended any other way under the circumstances. (I was dreading what would come next with each sentence as I read the account . . . but it was his own fault . . . and, yes, I think that he might very well have carried on alone even though it was foolish to do so.)

-- Jeff
Bluebear Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05171345165563779232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1796726216651686005.post-27144499667861874242013-10-21T15:30:42.096-04:002013-10-21T15:30:42.096-04:00Ugh. The mantis men were only 1 HD but that pit just did so much damage to all of them. Another lesson learned the hard way.

-JohnJohn Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16465161620134394060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1796726216651686005.post-40990471238381697682013-10-21T15:28:56.462-04:002013-10-21T15:28:56.462-04:00Thanks, Kelroy! As I wrote to Jeff, above, I just ...Thanks, Kelroy! As I wrote to Jeff, above, I just got so fixated on the idea that Dleggit could achieve his redemption on his own, that rather than have him wait, it seemed better to let him move on.

The pit really was the deciding factor I think. It nearly killed everyone - instead of a Mythic question, i should have just used something like a d6, where 1= 10', 2-5 = 20' and 6 = 30'. Odds would have been higher that all would have survived, rather than being cut down by 1 HD monsters.

-JohnJohn Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16465161620134394060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1796726216651686005.post-44058876747833061812013-10-21T15:26:25.618-04:002013-10-21T15:26:25.618-04:00I don't know why, but, when the rest of the pa...I don't know why, but, when the rest of the party ran, I became enamored with the idea that Dleggit would have an opportunity to cleanse his conscience by himself in a glorious settling of the debt he believed he owed.

In hindsight, clearly it was a foolish idea.

However, I did think to make him curse White Eyes. And if it turns out White Eyes didn't die in the destruction of the keep (I don't know myself yet), then I have intentionally left the door open for Dleggit to make some kind of return, if only in a non-corporeal form.

I had a good time adventuring with him and I hope you feel i did him justice. Dleggit did have a decent run, and he has the distinction of being the longest running non-human PC in the campaign, and is one of a handful of pcs to have achieved 2nd level before his death.

-JohnJohn Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16465161620134394060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1796726216651686005.post-65145899811384465512013-10-20T08:38:33.746-04:002013-10-20T08:38:33.746-04:00Whoa, that was lethal.
